Freedom

Here is another post in my Conversation Ideas series.

Let’s talk about freedom. What does that word mean to you? Is your country free? Are people free to choose their religion, free to say or write anything or free to wear whatever they want? In what ways are our countries different from each other in matters referring to freedom?

Do you think people should fight for freedom? Or just accept situations that don’t allow freedom?

Do you think a mother or a wife can ever be truly free? Should we control our children and teenagers or allow them to make choices?

Do you think men lose their freedom when they marry?

Some people really don’t want to pursue freedom. They may like a society that is controlled. Sometimes familiar traditional ways are more desired than freedom because freedom might bring change and that can be scary. Do you prefer tradition with no change or freedom to see change happen?

Some people come to the West as refugees seeking freedom. They come to a free country but sometimes never become free inside. They might be filled with bad memories or a desire to take revenge on enemies that forced them to flee their country. (Discuss this reality and what can be done about that).

You could share how you have become free inside from some particular sin such as worry, fear, jealousy, etc.
