Mysteries

Here is another post in my Conversation Ideas series.

Do you know what the word ‘mystery’ means? What is the word mystery in your language?

Talk about mystery programs on television or some mystery book you have read. Do you like mystery programs and books?

Talk about things that have a lot of mystery to them: oceans, sky, stars, planets, long distance phone calls, plane trips, how the brain works, conception, formation and delivery of babies, romance/love, how a computer works, healing, etc. What is the greatest fascinating mystery to you?

Talk about the Seven Wonders of the World. http://www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wonders_of_the_World
Is there anything in your country that is considered mysterious or amazing?

For me the story of Isa al Masih is the biggest mystery. His birth from a virgin, his miracles and healings, his power over nature and jinn, his teaching, his death/empty grave, his resurrection(qiamat, ‘key-A-mat), his witnessed ascension to heaven and his return to earth at the end of the world are big mysteries. His love is a big mystery. (Your friend will probably state the Qur’an is the biggest miracle or mystery. While Muslims believe the Qur’an came ‘incarnated’ to earth from heaven, Christians believe something even greater than a book(Jesus Christ) came from heaven to earth. Let her have time to share what she finds miraculous or mysterious about the Qur’an.)
