Money

Here is another post in my Conversation Ideas series.

Please tell me the name of your money(and coins). If you have some samples I’d like to see them. (You can go through the names of our coins.)

Do you like money? Discuss why people love money. Does money bring power, influence, buy friends/produce enemies, bring peace, happiness, freedom, jealousy, worry or fear? Who is the richest person in your country? Are there any very rich women? How did they become wealthy? When people in your country get wealthy how is that shown: car, big house, gold, carpets, swimming pool, vacations, etc.? What do people like to invest in?

Is it cultural for your children to earn money by doing errands or having paper routes? Do your children receive weekly allowances?

Talk about lotteries and gambling and see if it goes on in your friend’s country. Do men visit other countries to go to casinos if they can’t gamble in your country?

Talk about borrowing money or getting a loan. Do you go to a bank or to a relative or friend when you need money?

Isa Al Masih(Jesus Christ) said, “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!” Luke 18:25 What do you think Isa Al Masih meant by that statement? (Use a needle as an object lesson. Discuss how she thinks she may get to heaven).
OR:
How does a man deal with his money at the time of death? Does each son and daughter get equal amounts of father’s money? What is the word for ‘inheritance’ in your language? (You could share the story of the Prodigal Son.)
